About Us
The Matanuska Valley Sportsmen, Inc. is an organization whose members encompass all segments of the population of the State of Alaska. Our members include men, women, and youth, both shooters and non shooters. We are an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non profit club.
Our Purpose
The Matanuska Valley Sportsmen, Inc. is dedicated to firearms safety education as a public service, marksmanship training as a contribution to individual preparedness for personal and national defense, and the sports of shooting, hunting, and fishing as wholesome forms of recreation.
The Matanuska Valley Sportsmen, Inc. is a member of the Alaska Outdoor Council that advises local and state policy makers on regulations of interest to members such as hunting, fishing, trapping, boating and other outdoor recreation.
Code of Conduct
We believe in integrity, sportsmanship, the safe use of firearms, and the wise use of the resources of the state.
Open Shooting
During our normal open shooting times (see range hours of operation), participants may use the range and targets to develop skills “across the board”. Automatic target carriers will move targets from the firing line to any position selected or programmed and will return the target to the firing line when the shooter has completed the course of fire.
The indoor range is open to almost all of the straight sided pistol cartridges, with the exception of the 50 caliber class. For specific details on prohibited cartridges, please contact the range.
